First Steps

So here I am, writing my first blog post.

I have had a dream of setting up my own physio practice for a few years now. But it has never felt like the “right time” and I have put it off for longer than I will admit to! I’m sure there will be some of you that can relate to that. In light of the current climate of the world, with COVID-19 on the rampage and uncertainty about the future, I wanted to use this time to do something productive, useful and encouraging (hopefully) for people.

I qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of Birmingham in 2013, and have worked in the NHS, private practice and various sports clubs for the last 7 years. I was even lucky enough to land a place working as a therapist in the Rio Olympic Games; something I feel really boosted my confidence whilst also challenging and teaching me to work in a high pressure environment.

I have loved helping people with musculoskeletal complaints, whether that be an elite athlete about to partake in a world class event, or 93-year-old Doris with a stiff, arthritic knee who is struggling to tackle the stairs. It all gives me the same sense of pride, fulfilment and gratitude that I am able to make a difference to people.

First Line Physio Ltd has been created to be a first point of contact for people who want education and support with all of their musculoskeletal pains, problems and niggles. The COVID-19 pandemic has made me realise how inaccessible MSK physiotherapy services can be when crisis strikes, and I wanted to start something that allows people to access information from the comfort (and safety) of their own homes. I want to help empower you to start helping yourselves whilst you may not have access to your usual physiotherapy services.

So, my plan is to share my knowledge, views and experience on certain conditions, treatment plans, exercise ideas and current research. If there’s anything you want to read about or any questions you have, please get in touch as I want to tailor my posts to YOU.

I don’t claim to have all the answers and this site is absolutely not designed to replace medical assessment and advice, but hopefully will become a helpful source of information.

Yours Truly,

Katie

Founder of First Line Physio
